Saša Leković, CJA president, laid wreaths at the site of killing journalists during the Homeland War

02.09.2016.

Saša Leković, CJA president, laid wreaths at the site of journalists killed in 1991 at Hrvatska Kostajnica region. He also supported the idea to commemorate all journalists killed in the Homeland War and called once more the relevant institutions to find and punish assassins of war reporters.

In behalf of the CJA Saša Leković laid wreaths at Gordan Lederer’s, HRT cameraman, memorial at Čukur Hill near Hrvatska Kostajnica. Gordan Lederer was killed while being on duty on August 10, 1991 by Serb sniper.

He also laid wreath in memory of two Russian journalists killed at Panjani Village near Hrvatska Kostajnica. Viktor Nogin and Gennadij Kurinoj were killed on September 1, 1991 when they were ambushed by Martić's (Croatian Serb) „militia“. Their car was set on fire and their bodies have not been recovered.

That case is still under investigation of County Prosecutor's Office and the CJA advocates their and all other journalists' assassins to be identified and punished.

Following the CJA initiative to mark all sites of war reporters' death yet not marked and to commemorate them by laying wreaths every year Saša Leković had meeting with Glina representatives. On July 29 1991 German war reporter Egon Scotland was killed in that town.

It was agreed for the next year to mark adequately the site of German war reporter death, the first one to be killed in the Home Land War.
