HRT withdraws lawsuit against CJA and Sanja Mikleušević Pavić

04.11.2021.

Croatian Radio-Television (HRT) withdrew the lawsuit it filed on December 24, 2018 against CJA and its journalist and president of the CJA Branch on HRT, Sanja Mikleušević Pavić.

The lawsuit was filed because of the announcement of the CJA Branch on HTV released in September 2018, in which the Branch condemned management failures and affairs like the resale of tickets for the World Cup. With this lawsuit, public service broadcaster demanded compensation in the amount of 33.000 EUR (26.000 from CJA, and 7.000 from Sanja Mikleušević Pavić, the president of the Branch).

"CJA welcomes the withdrawal of lawsuits by HRT. We think this is a good move, but at the same time we once again call on the new director of the public service to withdraw all other lawsuits filed by HRT against journalists and media," said CJA President Hrvoje Zovko.

HRT withdrew one more lawsuit filed against the CJA, raised during the mandate of the former CJA president, Saša Leković.

According to the CJA, HRT has not officially withdrawn the lawsuits it filed against CJA President Hrvoje Zovko. Two lawsuits relate to alleged damage to HRT's reputation and honor due to Zovko's public appearances on censorship on the public service, while the third was filed for alleged seizure of HRT equipment. HRT sued Zovko for the same thing in criminal and civil proceedings, with the claim in amount 33.000 eur.
