What about journalism?

It's a well-known fact that many of today’s politicians don't understand the main purpose of journalism and their attitude towards journalism is mostly ignorance. The political campaign for the parliamentary elections has just begun. The Croatian Journalists' Association and the Trade Union of Croatian Journalists are asking all political parties in the elections 10 questions - from the basic one, about the direction of their media policies if they come to power to the specific questions we have been asking for years.

We no longer expect, we demand urgent measures to save journalism in Croatia

“I felt the effects of coronavirus crisis right away because we freelancers work on a month-to-month basis, especially on Croatian Radiotelevision which I work with. All freelancers and cultural workers can endure another two or three months. The Ministry of Culture has done nothing to resolve our position and there is no idea how to help us. We would all rather work than sit at home. Independent artists now get 1600 kunas of help. We can’t survive on that”, said journalist, screenwriter, and director Danijela Stanojević who was left without income in the midst of a pandemic.

Hrvoje Zovko elected CJA president again

CJA firmly rejects statements of the Prime Minister Plenković who repeatedly denies pressures on critical journalism in Croatia by discrediting Hrvoje Zovko, CJA president, personally

To bring down issues of deterioration and suppression of journalism CJA warned about at its protest on Saturday just to Hrvoje Zovko case and to misrepresent the facts of his resignation from editor's position at HRT is not worthy of the role of Prime Minister.
