CJA strongly condemns insisting on closing down Al Jazeera

01.07.2017.

Croatian Journalists' Association (CJA) condemns insisting of some Arabian countries on closing down Qatar media company Al Jazeera.

After five Arabian countries (Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain) cut diplomatic ties with Qatar by the end of June due to its alleged support to extreme groups some insisted on closing down Al Jazeera.

Politicians should not use interstate disputes for attacking media pluralism and freedom of expression; therefore insisting on closing down Al Jazeera is not admissible.

CJA fully supports our colleagues in regional Al Jazeera centers in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, as well as in other countries.
