Branka Gabriela Valentić - Hina director again

The Croatian News Agency (Hina) Governing Council appointed, by majority of votes, Branka Gabriela Valentić, the existing Hina director, to be the Agency head for one more term.

Valentić gained 3 from 5 votes of the Governing Council members. According to the Council president Maja Pleskalt the quality of her program and good results in the previous period made the difference.

Valentić's program is based on the idea of expanding correspondents' network, strengthening of multimedia service and bringing young journalists into the Agency. She also announced dialogue with the Ministry of Culture regarding changes in the Law on Hina.

During her presentation Valentić reminded that at the beginning of her first term Hina had suffered more than 9 million kunas loss, there had been no systematization, no resources and no adequate equipment. Even more, Hina had lost some of its big clients.

She pointed out that since 2013, when she became the head of the Agency, it has become a modern European agency with positive financial records and influence at the media market.

All candidates presented Hina Governing Council their programs and presentation was open to the public.

Along with Branka Gabriela Valentić candidates were: Darko Markušić, Vanja Gavran, Ivan Kujundžić and Neven Pavelić. Candidate Nenad Bach canceled his presentation.
